My hairdresser is Vietnamese and I've wondered...?

Why that most manicurists and hair stylists are Vietnamese? I have nothing against this, but there seems to be a plethora of Vietnamese who choose this profession and I've always wondered why. Thanks. My hairdresser is Vietnamese and I've wondered...?
yeah I'm from Michigan and i have noticed that all the massage girls are Vietnamese.at the end of the massage they always ask me about a happy ending I'm not sure what there talking about though. My hairdresser is Vietnamese and I've wondered...?
I have been told the same thing here in St. Louis, Missouri that the manicurists are mostly Vietnamese.
must be just the demographics where you live. It's not true where I live, we are mostly white.

the same as a pizza delivery person, both deliver.
According to how well they do a job.Or about5%
    20% is standard
    a few bucks
This depends on what you are getting done, how much time it takes. Standard is 10 to %15.
    15 percent
    2 bucks
    I give them $5.
I don't know but I was think 15% cause that is like a waitredded dew. but Idk. so if the total was like 100 dollars it would like, 15.00
depends on if they f up your hair.

And I never tip the barber!

    Tiping is for food/drinks

    It means To Insure Prompness.
    $2.00
5 or 10 bucks extra. I keep it simple and decide if the hairdresser spent extra time on it or if the hairstyle is bigger than normal, if so, she in my case, gets the 10 bucks. other than that, she'll get the 5.
    15-20%
Just my from my experience in the business I say 20% of the total service bill. I would also use this rule with servers. 20% only for great service. hope it helps!
    3 dollars is the minimum
    usually 5$
10-15%. If they do a very good job or have to do a lot of work on you, go to 20%.
    Two Dollars, or 20%
    I tip my hair dresser $7.00 to $10.00 .
    15-20%
I tip a couple of bucks.
    depends on how they did.
depends on how good a job i think they have done and what the cost of price of the hair do is in the first place
I don't tip, my hairdresser owns the place
    15%-20% i think is enough.

    or juss 2 bux
It depends on how cute my hair turns out and the type of service that I received. Some hairdressers overbook clients and make people sit there all day. On the other hand my new stylist has alot of clients but she is quick and her service is great. I gave her a $20 tip
if the haircut is like 8-10 bucks, tip like 2. It really depends on the cut you get.
15% normally, but it all depends on you how generous and satisfied you are with her or his service.
10 dollars which i think is way to much

No, dont wear a hat or a hoodie, those are too noticeable.

However, I would say go out and purchase a cheap wig that looks like your old hair. Your hairdressers might even have something.

If not, just wear it like it is. If someone makes fun of it, or makes a comment just ignore it. People are real low, and have very little self worth nowadays, and someone who needs to ';kick you when you are down'; (for example) is not worth any time of yours.Last week I went to hairdresser to cut my hair but she cut it very bad and ugly and 5days later is my birthday

Hair color advice please!! I had my hair cut and the hairdresser cut more?

off than I had asked, anyway when I got home I noticed you could see a few grey strands on top so I went and bought colorsilk strawberry blonde, my hair is naturally light brown, well the color is as described only it's a little too bright, is there anything I can do to tone the color down? I am 40, I should have just left the little grey I had in and waited to have it done professionally any advice much appreciated, Happy New Year!!Hair color advice please!! Sallys Beauty carries some toner. And I have seen something at Walmart by Revlon or Loreal that takes the brassiness out. That could possibly work, it also has extra shine. just leave it
If strawberry blonde is too much, try the other way, A Medium Ash Blonde, but stay away from the light blondes or you may end up looking a little tacky.

try to pin it all back into a ponytail or bobby pin it into a pony tail.. you can always do a little of a comb over, if it's side swept bangs, to hide the length a little.

p.s. next time try to get a stylist that cuts hair dry so you know exactly what it looks like since hair is weighed down %26amp; appears longer when cut wet.Hairdresser cut my bangs too short and i cant do antyhing HELP!?

You have to take the whole experience in as a factor, if it was not a good experience, then don't leave as much... if it was just OK, then leave an average tip.... if you absolutely loved everything, then tip better than you usually would... that's the way you should base your tip.

I guess it depends on how much you like your cut, if it is EXACTLY the way you wanted it give her what you think she deserves... many people only tip 10%.... if the cut was $13 and you got exactly what you wanted i wouldnt go for anything less than $5HOW MUCH TO TIP A HAIRDRESSER IF THE CUT wAs 13. 95?
    5 bucks
iono but 13.95 for a hair cut is pretty good!=)
$5 should be good, I would personally tip $7.
I'm a stylist and would expect at very least 3 dollars. it's not so much the cost of the cut, color, etc., It's how you liked it when it was done, did she/he style it after wards, was she/he nice and personable while you we're there? You have to take the whole experience in as a factor, if it was not a good experience, then don't leave as much... if it was just OK, then leave an average tip.... if you absolutely loved everything, then tip better than you usually would... that's the way you should base your tip.
um maybe 2 or 3 dollars.
i usually give my hairdresser 10 euros,i do not how much much in $
I usually tip $2.00 for an inexpensive haircut, $5.00 for something more expensive (over $25 or $30)
If you live in America, then i would say about 4 - 5 dollars.

But if you live in the UK, then about 拢2.

It depends where you live and if you were happy with the cut.

The happier you are the bigger the tip!
拢1 or $1 or whatever the currency is where you're from.
    str8 5 bucks gay 8

it proven gays on average get better tips
I think generally it should be 20% of the cost. But that wouldn't be much of a tip for that small amount. I'd say maybe 3 or 4 bucks.
nofin lol....if yr rich den a fiver...wod b perfect. xxxxxxxxx
    5 bucks is general

DEFINITELY. It would still be considered rude not to, even if they own the salon. And let's not piss off the people with the scissors!Do you tip your hairdresser who owns the salon?
Oh yeah. Especially if the person did a wonderful job.

weellll my mom is a hair dresser and she suggests that you print out a very clear picture of ashley's hair and give it to the one doing your hair. you must tell them that you want it exactly like that and nothing different or they will surely try to change it up a little and try something new... i hope i helped..!!!
You should probably print out that picture and show it to the hair dresser. I know that sometimes when I go they don't really understand what I want done with my hair. =)

    Hope I helped!!!

(i like ashley's hair to lol)
I'd just bring in a picture of her that you print off the internet and say you want it like that.

  • Can you get a Sedu or Solia at a hairdresser's? which one's better?

I have thick poofy hair. Which one's better?

I don't want to buy it online.

    I have a CHI, but I don't like it. :(

and a GHD is way too expensive. almost $300! :O I'm not that rich.

and Conair's are crappy. Can you get a Sedu or Solia at a hairdresser's? which one's better?

I have never used Solia or heard of it before, but I do have a Sedu flat iron. It costs $115 on Folica.com with free shipping and a 2 year warranty. There is a 1'; model that runs for $108. Folica.com is the ONLY online retailers of Sedu products. They are a very reliable company and I've made purchases from them with no problems at all.

The Sedu flat irons have ceramic/tourmaline plates, which emit loads of negative ions. This type of heat is less damaging than that of regular ceramic plates. Also, Sedu flat irons have shiny scratch-resistant plates that glide through your hair like butter - no kidding! I love mine so much and I definitely recommend it to you also! :) Good luckCan you get a Sedu or Solia at a hairdresser's? which one's better?
For really thick hair, I'd suggest a Sedu. I have one, and it works wonders! However, I bought mine at Folica.com. I'm pretty sure you could buy one at hair dressers, but I'm not sure. I guess it depends on the hair salon.

Can a white hairdresser cut/style a black persons hair?

I was considering going to a white hair salon my friend says she's in and out in 45mins to an hour, which is my main reason to go. I am not interested in perming my hair but to wear a cute very short but feminine style. I have very thin curly hair, and they always struggle with it when I go to a black hairstylist. please helpCan a white hairdresser cut/style a black persons hair?
I don't think this is a racist question. It's simply inquiring about someone's skills and knowledge. I have gone to both black and white hairstylists. I've been to (2) white stylists, and neither was qualified to do my hair. They ';assumed'; the products they used on their regular clients would work. I learned that you have to ask their qualifications and if they have had the necessary training to style, perm, cut, and otherwise maintain African American hair. Some do, some don't. I have since met a white hairstylist who can do my hair like nobody's business! She's great! BUT she trained and has had experience.

I think the people who said it was racist, did not fully understand the question. Yes, ANYBODY can ';cut'; hair, but not EVERYBODY can maintain just anybody's hair. Can a white hairdresser cut/style a black persons hair?
Of Course! I'm sure if the stylist has had plenty of experience with that hair type why not? If your friend goes then you should too.
Umm not sure cuz i go to an all black salon too, since they know our hair more, but im guessing yes since they studied hair in college(i hope) and i guess they would have to study every hair type right?
Sure they can, as long as they're proffesionals with very good experience. he/She knows exactly what to do with your hair. It's always better to bring a picture from a magazine. And you can always ask around.....
Wow! That is not a racist question and I am white. I think hairstylists get training and practice on all types of hair in school, but I would ask the stylist if she is comfortable doing your hair, because you already know it has a different texture that Caucasian people's hair. I have very thin straight hair and am always afraid of a new stylist scalping me, as it takes forever to grow back. Good luck in whatever you choose!
Yes. I've seen it;) However, I would be skeptical if your friend hasn't cut a black person's hair.

When I was in the Army, I got to know my hairdresser pretty well. She was Asian and cut white and black peoples hair. She did have a different kit for each race though.
    yes
Yes. Just tell them what you want done to your hair and as a professional they should be able to make it happen easily.
You should definetly ask the hairdresser if she has done your type of hair before. And yes, your hair and color is a factor. Black people have different types of hair and if she has not dealt with your type of hair it can be disasterous!!!
I think a white hairdresser could if they have have experience and knowledge. Just ask her if she's comfortable with cutting your hair or if she has a suggestion of someone who could
um, this is not racist. It is a question that any peron with different type of hair would ask. If you feel comfortable going to this hairdresser, do it.
well not to chew you out but that question is racist, how many black people do you think would be offended if the question was phrased Can a black person do this or that?

with that aside if black people can do it so can white people that is the way it works heard of the civil rights movement? We are all EQUAL there fore we can all do the same things. now to further answer your question, African Americans have tougher hair that is harder to work with then white hair, if a white hairdresser had enough black clients i do not see why he or she would not be able to do a black persons hair

I hope this answered your question
You sound racist...anyone can cut anyones hair
doing a black womans hair is differnt from doing a white womans hair.

it also depends on the person doing your hair
a good hairdresser, will be able to cut / style any type of hair.

just check with the hairdresser, and explain what you want, and i am sure they will be honest, and tell you if they can or can not do it

My hairdresser rents a chair at a salon. She pays the salon a portion of each cut. Do I need to tip her?

If you like the way she does your hair and plan to continue having her do it, Yes! By all means tip her.My hairdresser rents a chair at a salon. She pays the salon a portion of each cut. Do I need to tip her?
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My hairdresser rents a chair at a salon. She pays the salon a portion of each cut. Do I need to tip her?
Even if she didn't rent the booth, that is besides the fact. It is just as rude to not tip her as it would be to not tip your watress....thats how they live!
    Yes!!
Of course you tip her or anyone else who does a service for you. If you want the best treatment and look good when you walk out next time then tip her now. It does not have to be money by the way. You could bring her some fresh cookies out of the oven for her or movie passes, etc. Good luck.
You should always tip your hairdresser.
Why would you not tip her?
The truth is : you tip employees not bosses - in your case which looks little bit like part of franchising, you may forget - but if you want to give something to trigger person's sympathy, why not ?
    no........
Yes. The only person in a salon that you don't tip for a cut is the owner.
    YES
    Absolutely
It would be nice I get my toes an feet done I tip.
Of course. Her business relationship and finances are irrelevant to your relationship with her. Tips aren't mandatory but if you appreciate her service, you should tip her.

Most good salons will do you a wedding package but will want you and your bridesmaids to come in for trials so everyone is happy with what they are going to have on the day %26amp; to make sure what is wanted actually is achievable %26amp; suits you.

onviosuly everyone here has the same answer as to bring the picture with you but what if you cant? well you can draw it draftly and some of you guys said hairdresser do what feels best well say this to them. ';IF you dont cut the hair i want i wont pay you'; simple then the hair dresser ends up losing a customer which isnt a good feelingHow do I explain to a hairdresser how to cut my hair? This is how I want it done http://img75.imageshack.us/?
Showing a picture to your hairdresser should do the trick. Also, having them cut your hair when it is dry can let you monitor the process and give you the ability to step in and ask them to do what you are looking for. Good luck!
hairdressers usually dont listen and do wahtever they feel like is best for you. I always say to keep my hair long cause i wanna grow it and they cut 2 inches off when i only have 4 inches of hair. : /
The easiest way is to find a photo from a magazine which is like the style you want and then tell them how you want it to be done.
Can't see the pic, but print it off and take it with you.. show her the pic and ask for it to be done like that..x
Deffinetly take the picture with you, im useless at describing how i'd like my hair so i take pictures :)
Just take the picture with you and tell them thats how you want it done.

My daughter wants to be a hairdresser ---modern apprentiship or college?

    apprentiship:

    pro:

    1. 1st hand experience - that way she knows what the business is really like

    2. can make some useful contacts - potential of getting a job with the company when she qualifies

    3. she will get to go to college part time as well.

    con:

    1. the pay isn't that good - it's well known that she won't get paid much for the work she does at this level.

    2. she must make sure she gets a good company or they can really mess her around

    College

    pro:

    1. very academic - there will be alot of theory work

    2. will be taught be experienced people

    con:

    1. check out what the ratio of coursework and exams are - see what your daughter prefers and make sure she gets the right mix

    2. she could end up with just a list of theories - she needs to know how to put htme into practise.

    3. no work experience - she may get into th real industry and find out that it really isn't for her after all.

Hope this helps and good luck to both of you

xxxxxxxxxxxMy daughter wants to be a hairdresser ---modern apprentiship or college?
Modern apprenticeship! She gets hands on experience, the college day release and she gets paid at the same time.

Speaking from experience of doing an apprenticeship years ago and being a mentor I found that people that did apprenticeships were much better at their job than those that just did the college course with work placements. There's a lot to be said for hands on experinece in the real world.

I must say though that I did do my apprenticeship in bakery and confectionery... hopefully not a hair in sight!

Good luck to her!My daughter wants to be a hairdresser ---modern apprentiship or college?
well i go to college to study hairdressing but i have friends that have done apprentiships. both are as good as each other as you have the practical side and more of a hands on experience of being in a salon enviroment if your daughter did an apprentiship but if she went to college, the tutors/teahers would be able to help more with the learning esspecially if she had a problem doing anything.

with an apprentiship she would earn more money, in cornwall, my friend was on 拢80per week while i was at college and was only earning between 拢10 and 拢30 per week through being entitled to EMA through the goverment. imean obviosly the choice is hers.

    hope this has helped.
I would go for a modern apprenticeship with a reputable salon. For the 1st 3 months it will probably seem like a cleaning job while the salon susses out whether she has the right attitude and is serious enough to have money and time spent on her training.

However if she sticks with it the training is superior and she will be guaranteed a career at the end.

College hairdressers are a little bit looked down upon as they almost always have to be retrained!
modern apprentice for sure. You can't beat hands on experience, and she'll earn tips!!!!!!!!
    HELLO...

If she likes the idea of earning and learning I would reckomend an apprentership.

If she enjoyed School and is keen to become a hairdresser I would suggest College. (Its quicker going to College)

    GOOD LUCK TO HER.
I would suggest getting an apprenticeship in a good salon, she could go to college one day a week. This is a much better idea than going to college full time as she would gain a lot of valuable experience and knowledge working in a good salon.
HAIRSTYLING IS NOT A BLUE COLLAR JOB! ok ok here's what ya do..have a looky online at some 'hairdressing schools' in your state..this is very important! once she there she will have the stepping stone to go further which is what she really wants! after that I know there are some amazing 'color tech' and advanced cutting schools in the US! again just start looking online.
College should be better because she will learn deeply regarding hairdressing.

I know that this job will not make her rich materially but is a thing she likes and she will put all her efforts to become the best hairdresser. So encourage her on her election.
    Trade School
Your daughter should do what makes her happy for a life long career. There are hairdressing schools that teach just that. Then of course hands on experience is the best learning tool. My niece dropped out of college as she was not happy and has now pursued a hairdressing career and just took her state boards. she works out of her home and loves it!! Good luck to your daughter.
Hairdressing is a blue-collar job. She might make a so-so living at it but she'll never get rich unless she opens up a chain of her own shops twenty years down the road. Counsel her to seek a higher station in life...
she should do what makes her fell happy n dont dis hairdressing i go college 4 it
tell her t Shoot for the stars and make her dreams come true. i also want to be a hairdresser and i am 21 and am just now getting to where i can do it.
Let her try the hair thing - she can always go back to school.

I have education up the wazoo and I am still not happy with what I do every day. If she has a chance of being happy with what she does for a living, don't take that away from her.
get an apptentiship she will get better experience and will most likly be taken on.
Definitely college. when i left school i went straight into a modern apprenticeship at a well known salon. I hated working there, the hours were too long and i was well under the minimum wage. i did not enjoy my job at all. I decided to leave and i am currently at college doing hairdressing, and loving it. I have time to be my age and go out with friends. i have definitely made the right decision.
OH... MY GOD... HAVEN'T WE GOT ENOUGH HAIRDRESSERS....?

Please get her to do something useful... you don't come from Essex by any chance do you?
A combination. The best way, if she is serious, is to research local schools and the programs they offer-if you want to do hair don't go to a school that's known for it's law programs-ya know? Then try to get her in a salon as an assistant. If you have access to an Aveda school---the best of the best.
college they will teach more things other than hair
i think your daughter should go for the apprentiship its hands on experience for her rather than go to ollege then try to look for a job after i had a similar experience and would defenetley recommend the apprentiship
Modern apprenticeship, hands on salon experience, but make sure she gets to learn more than sweep up the hair and make coffees all day.

How much do you tip your hairdresser at christmas time?

I don't think it really matters.

If you have persional relationship with her/him or if he/she has been doing your hair for a long time, you might want to give her/him a little gift. That's what I do instead of giving a bigger tip.

I normally give her a big tip so it make her more happy when I show up with a little gift. How much do you tip your hairdresser at christmas time?
I had a very good stylist for over 10 years. Every Christmas I'd give her an extra $20. Normally I'd tip $5 every time I saw her.

I can't go by percentages, because sometimes it was just a trim, sometimes color, sometimes all of that plus waxing. So the $20 is kind of an average of all the services she ever did.How much do you tip your hairdresser at christmas time?
    the same as always...about 15%
    $5.00 would'nt be bad
Please tell me that you tip your hairdresser ALL the time and are just asking if you should tip a bit more...

If you don't see the same hairdresser all the time, then I'd just tip the usual 15%.

If, as others have suggested, you see the same person every time, a small gift in addition to the regular tip would not be out of line. Think cookies, candy, or other inexpensive items...
I tip her $10-$12 every time and she charges a lot for her services. I'm there for every appt. every month. I feel that's enough for the year. It would actually be nice if I would get a free condition or something once a year for having been a loyal customer of hers for 6 years. I might add that she owns her own business and charges high prices to begin with. She is not on the lower-echelon like some new people that need lots of tips to survive. I'm not currently working and have tuition and books to buy, so I do what I can do and I think it's fair - she's always happy to see me.

How do you tell your hairdresser what you want?(adriana lima look)?

my hair is long past my bra strap its all one length. I want it cut in long layers but last time i went and told them that they cut lots of my length off and made only one big layer around my head. I want the kim kardashian or adriana lima look. really long sexy layers. what kind of layers would that be called? How do you tell your hairdresser what you want?(adriana lima look)?
you could always bring a picture with you, or just stay you want choppy layers that will be easy to style, maybe thin out the ends only.

Ask for the layers only at the bottom? How do you tell your hairdresser what you want?(adriana lima look)?
adriana lima is much classier and her hair is beautiful, take a picture in, print it or use your cell phone to take a picture, so she can better understand you. different hairstylists have different ';terms'; for layers so you better be safe and take a picture.
    Kim Kardashian is so sexy.

Just bring a picture and show them, not that hard.
    take a picture..

some people think it offends them but really they would rather that than you be unhappy or try to explain to them the look and they dont understand...
print out a picture and tell them to follow it. if they can't do that properly, change your hairdresser
Take in a picture of one of the girls

  • Should I ask out my hairdresser?

I'm 36 years old, and I fancy the lass who cuts my hair. She's very pleasant and chatty with me, but of course I don't know if that's just her being good at her job rather than having a liking for me personally.

Also, she's really good at cutting my hair, and I'm afraid to ask her out, because if she says ';no';, I'd be too embarrassed to go back to that place again for a haircut!

Do you think it's best left alone?Should I ask out my hairdresser?
    NEVER ask out female hairdressers.

They are usually single mothers that have multiple STDs..............Should I ask out my hairdresser?
Why would you be embarrased if she says ';no';? I think you should take a shot and ask her out. If she does say ';no thank you'; you have done nothing wrong and have no reason to be uncomfortable or embarrased. Good luck.
    hey. follow your heart.

    something like that...

I might add that she owns her own business and charges high prices to begin with. She is not on the lower-echelon like some new people that need lots of tips to survive. I'm not currently working and have tuition and books to buy, so I do what I can do and I think it's fair - she's always happy to see me.

Who is Lucy Meacock's hairdresser? I think her hair is fabulous at the moment and really suits her.?

More to the point who is Lucy Meacock? and what an unfortunate name.

Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser in edinburgh?

i used to go to ice hairdressing, the prices are really reasonable and all the stylists are really good. i think its at 10 london road. hope this helps : )Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser in edinburgh?
no but i can recommend one in fraserburgh

Should I ask out my hairdresser?

Good luck.
    hey. follow your heart.

    make a casual remark like...

    ';i went to this resturant! its so good. wna try it?';

    something like that...

    good luck!!!

print out the picture and show them what you like about it. they'll be happy to give you tips on how to create those curls. you have to ask for a sweeping frindge and a hair length around shoulder height. also slight layering around the back. good luck! What do i ask the hairdresser for if i want this look?
It's not up to the hairdresser to creat the style for day-to-day use.

You could ask from blonde hair (depends if you're alread blonde or not) and then caramel highlights.

But that's curls, so you'd have to create them yourself, unless it was just a one off?
    Honeyblonde with carmel lowlights.

And for describing the cut, ask for side swept bangs that are just above your brow when swept and gradually get longer.

Or better yet you can take in the photo to your hairdresser so its easier for them :)

Can you tell me how much a 17 yr old apprentice hairdresser is likely to get a week wage.?

apprentice wages vary, it depends on the business really, but i was an apprentice hairdresser for a while %26amp; they paid me 拢70 a weekCan you tell me how much a 17 yr old apprentice hairdresser is likely to get a week wage.?
拢80 per week, unless your employer makes a contribution to this! You should be able to claim travel expenses back too. The pay doesnt vary depending on ur age either, theres just a set minimum which was 拢50per wk when i did mine! Can you tell me how much a 17 yr old apprentice hairdresser is likely to get a week wage.?
pretty much national minimum wage for under 18 year olds minus tax and national insurance. so not very much
I would imagine the minimum wage - minus NI and tax etc

It would be best if you got a better picture. Then print it, or do something that would enable you to bring it in to the dresser. Then tell the dresser what you like/dislike about it. If you want it exactly like the picture or if you want changes.
    print the picture.=]

How much do you usually tip your hairdresser?

    Well, since that is me ( i shave ) i give myself a $20

SCHow much do you usually tip your hairdresser?
Not usually anything, but some good ideas. Christmas or special holidays she'll get something to decorate her shop with. How much do you usually tip your hairdresser?
    it depends

    if it's my friend $10 or $20

    others get $5

(I usually get cheap haircuts though)
Depends: what percentage of hair did this person take from my head? Percentages are based on this when tipping at a salon.
well i don't usually get any special hairstyle just like a usually level cut so my mom tips $5
I don't, tipping is stupid, they get a paycheck and get paid already becuase getting a haircut costs money
Typically between 3 and 5 dollars.

depends on what they do, hair trim $5 bucks, colored 10$

Does any1 one no how well a hairdresser would get paid in auzzie??

it really depends on where your working..5 star salon for a qualified hairdresser starts off at $1000 a weekDoes any1 one no how well a hairdresser would get paid in auzzie??
depends on where you work if you work at a real low budget one about $10 but if your working in a proper hairdresses about $50-150 and if your pwrking at a fancy salon anywhere from $200 up wards a haircut

Have you ever been ';dumped'; by your Hairdresser?

My hair stylist has decided after 6 months and $2K+ that she's NOT going to do extensions anymore. She did find me another person, but I don't know her or how her work is. This was supposed to be a year-long process, and I feel abandoned. What would you do about it?Have you ever been ';dumped'; by your Hairdresser?
I'd go to the manager or owner of the salon and negotiate with them to have a satisfaction guarantee with the new stylist.

That's a lot of money to be out for something that is a ';maybe you'll like it'; half way through! Good luck!Have you ever been ';dumped'; by your Hairdresser?

I have medium-long hair, i want to get layers (maybe). what should i get and how do i tell the hairdresser?

My hair goes down to just above my armpits, i have already got a couple of layers and a side fringe. i am a teenager and i want to get more layers (i think). i want to keep the same length.

but is there different types of layers? and can u get heaps or what is the go?

PLEASE HELPI have medium-long hair, i want to get layers (maybe). what should i get and how do i tell the hairdresser?
You can have short or longer layers...... my hair is a bit longer than yours..... but I have lots of short layers. . . the first starting about chin legnth all the way through to the end.... it's really nice, allows for a lot of movement..... razor cut is best. All you do is tell the hairdresser you want to keep your current lenght with long or short layers, and where you want the shortest length to be..... They know what to do from there, if you can find a picture, that always helps.

    This site should help.....

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im鈥?/a>I have medium-long hair, i want to get layers (maybe). what should i get and how do i tell the hairdresser?
you should ask for ';razored'; layers it's where they use a razor to layer your hair and it comes out really sharp and clean and also you should probably get side bangs those are in now
If I were you I would get a lot of layers, face framing layers then long layers in the back. Layers make a big difference in hair, so tell her to give you a few and see how you like it, but layers are good and fun!
you can get short or long layers. short ones are more at the top and long ones are at the bottom. tell her you want alot of layers, both short and long.
you could get layers-then get sideish bangs that dont always have to go in front of your forehead maybe look throught mags and find a hairstyle you like.

or you can get long and short layers. ask your sylist what they think of your ideas.
TELL THEM YOU WANT YOUR HAIR CUT IN LONG LAYERS , BUT YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THE LENGTH.

AN EXPERIENCED HAIR DRESSER WILL KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN..
Maybe you could thumb through some fashion magazines and fine a picture of someone who has a hair style you like, if so, take the picture to your hairdresser and show them. Like they say a picture speaks louder than words. Good luck...
Ask them to give you a trim (to get rid of any dried or drying ends) and then ask for an all over layering.

Hi. I went to get a haircut and as she cut it, she said ';f * * * you'; to me as she was doing it and insalted me! NO joke! (cheat) what can i do? is there any rating for businesses that people pay attation too? thank youMy hairdresser tried to rip me off! What can be done?
That's very odd? Just never go back and put it in the past where it belongs. Remove the experience from your brain

Good Luck!My hairdresser tried to rip me off! What can be done?
Change hairdressers IMMEDIATELY and tell ALL YOUR FRIENDS, it would help to elaborate a bit and make it really awful though it sounds like it already was... then they'll tell all THEIR friends and before you know it she'll be out of business.
    Get a mightly effed up looking wig. Put it on and stand outside her shop with a big smile and a sign saying, ';You could look like me! C'mon in!';
    change hairdresser

never do biz with her agin.

as for BBB don't waste ur time energy.
Just burn her salon down. The best revenge is with fire.
not much you can do but write it off as bad experience -word of mouth will kill her business in time

In hairdresser terminology what is a design line?

give me a definition for the following hairdressing terms

angled finger position, design line, dropping, lifting, guide line, projection angle, radial section, travelling design lineIn hairdresser terminology what is a design line?
-finger position is the position your fingers will point when cutting hair

-a design line is the outline of your cut

    -dropping im not sure of

-lifting is lifting the hair to cut in a layer

-a guide line is the first line you cut and you use it as a guide

-projection angle is the amount of degrees you lift the hair to form layers also

-a radial section is a section that is skinny at the top and fat at the bottom

    - travelling design line is the same as your design line but it moves

may i ask why you want to know this as the only reason i know it is because i went to hairdressing school to learn it?

My hairdresser messed up my hair?

I do straighten it but it unstraightensMy hairdresser messed up my hair?
a hair straightener, relax it's hair it will grow.My hairdresser messed up my hair?
I have wavy hair that flips in toward my neck no matter what length it is. I use matrix sleek look iron smoother and use my hair straightener. When you get to the end of your hair where it flips in, flip you hair the opposite way with the straightener to make sure you are getting rid of the flip. I hope this helps.
well you can get chi. its a little bit of money you gotta spend but it works. then you flat iron your hair after you put the chi in, and then after you flat iron your hair you put more in on your ends. ive had this problem before. nd another thing is only use a little of the chi. or if you dont like short hair then get extensions
OMG the same thing happened to me. To make it stick straight, I use Garnier Fructis style Strong hair milk and Garneir Fructis Sleek and shine anti-frizz syrup. Or try hair extensions, they really help me. Hope I helped and good luck with your hair!!! :)
    Hey!

What your hair dresser did was give you layers and a face trim. You can make your hair straight by using a hair straightner and spraying some hair spray in it so it stays straight for a long time.
Maybe straighten it everyday? But if you want it to grow faster then leave it alone. My hairdresser cut my hair too short once too. I just grew it out and it happened quickly!
its not ur hairdressers fault that it flips. its just because ur hair is shorter so its different... though she shouldn'tve cut it that short she's and idiot! anyway maybe a chemical straightner if ur iron isn't working?
get a hair straightener and make sure when you straighten your hair you dont turn the hair straightener in towards your neck, keep it straight.
If it's flipping, then she probably cut it at an angle so, no. You'll have to get it re-trimed straight with a razor or straight blade scissors.
1st get a new hair dresser second try straightening it for a while

if you like fun games and videos of people falling go to fiascogames.webs.com
    Straightner.
Straighten your hair then put a tad bit of mouse or hair spray on the ends.
    Buy a hair straightener

Ive tried dyind my hair blonde but it has gone ginger , how can i get it blonde without going to hairdresser ?

you are playing with fire. If you keep doing it you are going to fry your hair. Please stop doing it yourself and seek a professional. If you can't afford a salon, find a hair school in your area. They are much cheaper and all of the work is done by students that are supervised by licensed teachers. They won't mess up your hair and it's great practice for them.Ive tried dyind my hair blonde but it has gone ginger , how can i get it blonde without going to hairdresser ?
like that girl said go to a hair school, im in cosmotology shcool, i go to paul mitchell the school....get your hair lightend once, then u go get your regrwoth done ever 4 to 6 weeks and if ur hair starts to turn a brasy color u can buy a purple shampoo(only se it about once a week or ur hair will start looking purple cuz it actually has purple pigment in it) purple cancles out the orangy color. i have platinum blonde hair and i use purple shampoo and it keep my blonde looking fresh cuz i hate that brasy colorIve tried dyind my hair blonde but it has gone ginger , how can i get it blonde without going to hairdresser ?
i asked the hairdresser and she said you would have to bleach it then rinse wash than put the blonde die on your hair you will find if you get a hairdresser to come to your house it is much cheaper.i would not recommend doing it yourself.
put lemon juice in it and then go sit in the sun.

What do I ask my Hairdresser for?

I want to describe to my hairdress to do my hair like this

    ----%26gt;http://beauty.about.com/od/hairstylephotogalleries/ss/longface.htm

Without having to bring the photo in.

    What do I say?

BTW, other suggestions would also be nice =)What do I ask my Hairdresser for?
I'd bring the picture to be honest. I am sure she or he will have tons of magazines and books you can find your look in.

However if you want to describe it you could say a 'long fringe with long layers and a piecy angle/face framing'

Again there is always the interpretation of what you say and what she hears. I am a professional stylist and I love when people bring pictures to me.

Good luck! What do I ask my Hairdresser for?
After much research I recommend you go look at the web sites below for solution. I uncovered a lot of important information in there and think this would help you too.

Also uncovered this great site for hair related matters:

Tell her/him you want long layers with a long layered fringe to push to the side.

Its much easier if you take the picture I always take a picture or draw what I want, then there is no mis-communication.
tell them you want a long, layered shag - like Heather Locklear.
why you could do your own her or get a friend to do it to stop embrassmt
    ';i want long layers with side bangs please';

if she doesnt get that iidk y shes a hairdresser
    Honestly just bring the picture
they r called slant bangs in long hairs

Dose anyone know a mobile hairdresser in cleveland (middlesbrough)?

    no i live in cleveland

I want to become a hairdresser, but..?

I am a slow learner because of some minor medical conditions, one of them being the well-known 'ADHD'.

Anyway my question is, For a person like me, would it be better to do an apprenticeship? or go to hair school?

ThanksI want to become a hairdresser, but..?
I think your condition could work in your favor for this job, I have ADHA it keeps me two steps ahead of the game. I don't mind standing for long hours ,using my hands untill there sore, that's just a few things it takes to be a hairdresser. As for the learning problem this is alot of hands on learning ,I think you can do anything you set your mind on .I wish u the best never let a little thing like ADHD hold you back from reaching your goals.I want to become a hairdresser, but..?
I recommend a reputable school because a lot of motivation and education is important.........and also expensive. If you choose the apprenticeship route, only a salon with a person who has a barbers license, can get you barber certification and at the same time earn a wage and skill.I would only recommend the latter if the salon has a educational structure that is rigorous. If you have a natural gift with hair,ADHD is not an issue if this is a true passion of yours. The energy aspect of the condition is a positive. It takes a lot of dedication and perserverance to make it through training and everyone gets discouraged at times. If you possess these qualities and you are somewhat of a confident person with social skills, then this can be a very successful and extremely rewarding career for you.
School furst and the work with someone else for a whils. Your hands on will give you what you need for the future. Good luck
actually, to become a hairdresser you have to go to school. you have a certain amount of required course hours to complete before you can take the official state board of cosmetology test to get your license. and to cut/color/etc... hair in a salon, you need your license. you do your apprenticeship either while you're in school, or after you graduate.

    hope that helps!

My hairdresser tried to rip me off! What can be done?

Hi. I went to get a haircut and as she cut it, she said ';f * * * you'; to me as she was doing it and insalted me! NO joke! Then, when I went to pay i pulled out my money and she saw and wrote down how much money i had on the price recipt!

    Get a mightly effed up looking wig. Put it on and stand outside her shop with a big smile and a sign saying, ';You could look like me! C'mon in!';
    change hairdresser

never do biz with her agin.

as for BBB don't waste ur time energy.

    - travelling design line is the same as your design line but it moves

may i ask why you want to know this as the only reason i know it is because i went to hairdressing school to learn it?

not sure if she is liscensed, sure she serves alchol n she is in residental area .stay at home mom maiking money. but the creatures leaving her home are annoying, . condo associtaion ignores it ,town says to call state. i dont mind people staying home to take care of kids ,but having a bunch of drunks at all hrs is maddening. stae of new jersey, county of morrisReporting hairdresser working from home?
You can't do anything about it if she has a bunch of drunks inside her house, its not against the law to drink in the privacy of your own house.

    Buy a hair straightener
mess up her hair llol just wait til it grows and just piut it in a pnytail for now

  • I'm looking for a great hairdresser in the Bay Area....?

Her hair was totally fried, and to make matters worse my Dad couldn't stop laughing at her.I'm looking for a great hairdresser in the Bay Area....?
