Who has the most design talent.. Julia Gillard's hairdresser or the PM's wife's (Therese Rein) dress designer?

Wow, there's a toss-up.

Julia Gillard's hairdresser has adopted the 'Hitler' approach, with a fringe and a flop over the ears. Looks like a chipmonk in a cyclone. What a shocker, and just think, Australian taxpayers are probably paying for that mess.

And the PM's wife's clothes look to be designed by the bloke that designed the Worth's Circus tent. Mind you, it would be hard to get enough material in one roll to get around the girth. It looks like she's getting hand-me-downs from Amanda Vanstone and Joan Kirner, another couple of classic clothes-horses.

My vote for designer to the pollies goes to Hulio Dullard's barber, for trying to make her/him look even more masculine.

Why did the hairdresser say?

that because my hair is black

she couldnt doWhy did the hairdresser say?
she could have cut it but wouldnt be able to colour it any colour lighter than black without stripping it first or bleaching it in which case it would go orange and wreck your hair! Why did the hairdresser say?
First off (for those that don't know any better), you ';die'; fabric and color hair.

Now, foils are a method of applying hi-lights when the hair is to long for a cap OR when the client is wanting multiple colors. Hi-lights is coloring the hair a lighter shade than the natural color of the hair (not just blonde). Foils are a bit of a pain and must be done quickly. This in itself could be your answer. The best way to do foils is with an assistant (it's faster). I've had several assistants over the years and they should and often are a help but can also be a hindrance. On a very rare occasion the salon will have or pay a portion of the assistants wage (only once for me). I've Always payed their wage. So you can actually end up making a bit less in the long run.

The fact is, there's no reason why she couldn't have done your whole head in foils.
probably coudn't dye your hair, isn't it?

the hairdresser couldn't foil your hair coz maybe you'd done your hair dye before and that's the reason why she couldn't do it coz it will just damage your hair.

how many foils? it depends on how many highlights would be done to your hair.
Because if you wanted to go blonde, it wouldn't work.

It would go orange and it would take several visits and having your hair badly damaged just to get blonde hair.

Also she could get sued if she does your hair wrong. I don't think she wants to risk her job! Orange still looks super awesome in patches.

What couldnt she do?

Cut it or colour it?

If she said she couldnt colour it this is probably because the new die wont take to black hair or that youve died it too frequently recently.
she couldnt do what?

either way thats crazy.

You definitely need to suck it up.

If you want to be a hair dresser, you've got to finish high school and go on to a school for cosmetics and hair styling.

All states have a minimum age at which you can drop out of high school, which is no less than 16, and for many not until you turn 18.

If you do drop out, you lose your license until you're 18 or 19, and most jobs require you to either still be in school or have some form of high school diploma (GED or h.s. diploma), so you won't be able to work anyways.

As for now, if you really want a job wait until the summer, then start looking in the paper for jobs at places like Starbucks and Cold Stone and fast food restaurants because those are the places that hire young workers.I need to know how old do need to be to go to become a hairdresser?
In the UK you can leave school at 16.. if a hairdresser will take you on you can train that way.. of you can go to college also at 16 to do hairdressing.

The best thing to do would be to bring this picture into your hairdresser. But if you need to give her an idea over the phone, tell her that you want swoop bangs with angled hair in the front and a short boyish cut in the back, similar to a bob. What to tell the hairdresser?
One of the best ways is to print out the picture and bring in to show them. If you want any variations from the picture, tell them that. They don't say ';A picture is worth a thousand words'; for nothing. Showing them a real-life reference to work from is usually easier for them than just words!

print out a picture of the haircut that you want. Do not say ';I want a emo/scene haircut.'; They will just be freaked out. Find a picture online of a boy with the haircut you want, preferably without all of the eye make-up.
Get a picture of how you want your hair and tell her if you have any changes to that picture, I actually dont know how much it will cost... it usually ranges from $20 to about $120. Depends where you go.

    Wish u luck!

Should my 17 year old daughter be an hairdresser?

why not encourage her into an engineering field?Should my 17 year old daughter be an hairdresser?
This is such a profound question,it's to deep for me.Should my 17 year old daughter be an hairdresser?
Does she want to be a hairdresser?

Wouldn't you be better directing this question towards her?
studies have shown that people in jobs like hairdressing are actually happier than in other professions. It's something to do with having something small the work with, and when they finish the small job they are left with a sense of satisfaction and happiness... rather than working on a huge project that takes ages to finish. If she likes it, tell her to go for it!!!
if it's her dream yu shoul let her do what she want's look she's almost grown it's her discion to make
I was doing hair at 17 .My high school paid for half of the laon and I got credits at school for it.It doesnt mean that she still cant go to regular college too later.I did that for two years too.It might be a good experience for her
if that is what she wants
    Any reason she shouldn't?
No.......Dont let her......I am not saying its not a good job......its just you have to let her graduate High School first......and let her go to different proffessionals to talk to them about the salaries they make......let her try out some college classes..............if she thinks her lifestyle can survive on a hairdressers sallary then let....but let her do all of this...........through this process she will understand the importance of going to a regular college and why people pick thier careers
Nooooooo, it pays like crap. She won't be happy, standing all day cutting peoples hair, and what if their not happy w/ it???????? She'll feel like sh__!
Absolutely, let her go with what she wants to do.
Everyone is free to do what ever they want as long as she will not be uesed as cheap labour. She would also learn to work and interact with the general public which will improve her job prospects
it thats what she wants to be then yes, they make good money
    Why not?

If its what she wants why stop her? It's a good profession she will probably never be out of a job and one day she could go and open her own salon.
    Yes why not.
Only if that is truly what she wants to do for an occupation.
only if its what she really wants, money is crap in it so it would have to be a job she really enjoyed.. its her decision to make
How interesting you should ask! I AM a hairdresser! And a darn good one at that....Let me tell you what it takes...PLENTY OF PERSONALITY-a fair amount of talent(it helps if she's artistic), confidence and some stamina to go with it! Does she have a burning desire or is it just something that sounds like a fun easy way to make a living? You gotta love it, you gotta have somewhat of an EYE-to see art and form-if not, you may scrape by but there is so much competition. I myself gross 3-500$ days. I LOVE IT. Good luck!
    That's up to her .
YES WHY NOT WHEN SHES TRAINED SHE COULD OPEN HER OWN SALON OR GO MOBILE EITHER WAY SHE WILL EARN MONEY.PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS WANT THEIR HAIR CUTTING.
    Only if she wants to...
if she want to be then yes but you have got to remember its not a well paid job unless you own your own salon
Sure. She could wind up making $300 per day and do yours for free! If she has a talent let her use it.
Is it something she wants to do? If so, then she has to pursue her dreams and do what she wants to do with her life.

Working in a salon is a lot of fun. You have to be a people person, a go-getter. If that's her then tell her to go for it.
sure why not someone's got to do it
If that's what she wants to do, yes. You're lucky, my 18 year old son has no intention of getting a job any time soon so if your daughter is willing to get off her backside %26amp; do something, encourage her %26amp; let her know you are proud of her no matter what she decides to do.
Its a fun job, its easy to find work, its 9 months training plus apprenticship, and you can make good money.
If she wants to be. The usual job related injury for this profession is tendonitis in the shoulder.
    if she wants 2
Absolutely. Yes. Without a doubt. There's loads of money in hairdressing and she'll be able to travel the world.

Plus - you'll get free haircuts for life! Need I say more??
Hi i dont see why not if she wants to do this type of job, i always wanted to be an hairdresser, pity i didnt do it and went into retail.

Is a hairdresser or flight attendent a good job???

im thinking about being a hair dresser ot flight attendant and not sure which one to choose or both...... can u plz help me??Is a hairdresser or flight attendent a good job???
Honestly right now the market for being a flight attendant is bad. You dont make alot of money, and it takes a really long time to work your way up to making the money. You always start out doing close flights from state to state (this is if you live in the USA). Then you get around to doing longer flights maybe to hawaii or something. It isnt until you do international flights like to engalnd or australia or something that you make a decent living. But it takes such a long time to work your way up there. Also flights are very expensive becasue to the fuel prices these days, and its only going to get worse. So how does this affect you, because the gas is so high, the ticket prices are high, this makes ppl not fly as much, meaning they are cutting back on flight attendants and not hiring any becasue they dont need more. I heard on the news that flights will soon be only for the wealthy, tickets will be so expensive that only rich ppl will be able to afford flying. Therefore ther wolnt be as many planes. So flight attendant is not a very good job all around. It seems like a cool job ( i wanted to be one too ) but really its not, your flying hours in a confined flying metal plane with tons of ppl asking for pillows and blankets and food and breaking the rules. I felt so bad for the one flight attendant last time i was flying, she had to go down the long aisle asking every single person ';would you like a snack, would you like a snack, would you like a snack'; I felt so bad for her, it got so annoying! She actually had to get in this guys face who was sleeping with his ipod on, and we were landing and he couldnt have it on, she got in his face was almost yelling at him to turn it off so she pulled his ear buds off his ears and yell at him. Flight attending is not a glamorus job. BUT ANYWAYS sorry for the long stories! Hair dressing is cool. My aunt a hairdresser, she makes her own times and days she works, you get to talk to ppl all day. Theres always going to be a need for hair dressers. You can go to school for it and get a good job, and the pay is amazing! In my opinoon i would go for the hair dresser. Is a hairdresser or flight attendent a good job???
Ha well if You have great clients then you can be a successful hairdresser also a flight attendant is great opportunity and you should do it while your young you get to travel all around the world and you get free airline tickets also the pay isn't to bad but honestly these professions are not a good career choice
dont become a flight attendant...they (airlines) are massively laying off flight attendants and cutting flights.

Which is better early years teacher or hairdresser, thanks?

i have just past shoulder lenght hair and recommendations for suitable hair styles would be much appreciated.

You poor thing! I can't really picture what you are describing and that makes it difficult for me to give suggestions.

Maybe you can splash out and try a top-class hair dresser. It will cost more but they should have more experience. Maybe you can try Toni %26amp; Guy. Make sure you explain your presious experiences when you make your appointment and say you want someone with experience in this area. I would suggest going into the hair dresser to make the appointment so they can see exactly what you are talking about.

    Good luck!

Yellow pages, or yell.com will give you a list.

Does anyone know of a good hairdresser in chicago area i want highlights that look good but are not that expen

Try Mario Triccoci (sp?). I know they are in Woodfield Mall, Orland Park and I am sure there are several other stores. I am not sure what they charge. It really depends on where in the Chicago Area. My daughter has a girl she loves. Now the girl works out of her home in the Oak Forest area. She just had her hair highlighted. Its really really long and the girl only charged 50.00

  • I've never been to a hairdresser/salon, what do I expect???

My mom usually cuts my hair but I'm going to a salon soon what do I expect? Do they know all their costomers and notice that I'm new, or just treat me like everyone else? Will I have a book of hairstyles to look through, or do I just tell them? I've never been to one, whats it like???I've never been to a hairdresser/salon, what do I expect???
depending on how many regular customers they have, they may or may not notice you're new but will treat you just the same as everyone else.

Im pretty sure there's som law or legislation against discrimination. lol

iif you know what you want, you may or may not need to look through a book. However if you have a particular haircut in mind the best way to avoid disappointment is to find a pic of it on the net or somewhere, print it off, nd take it with you... hairdressers aren't mind readers you know!! If you're unsure what you want, you can look through a book. It's pretty simple!

Oh, and don't be afraid to ask questions - they love sharing their knowledge!

Yeah, as far as i know you have to have an apointment... otherwise they might be too busy to fit you in :[

    lol

just find the hairdresser you want, look them up in the phonebook, ring them and they'll give you a time.

    It's too easy, lol!

Oh, and don't be soo nervous - i luv going to the hairdresser, lol. xD

    Hope this helped

    Good Lukk!! %26lt;3

have fun at the hairdresser!! lol ;]

(i think is say lol too much, bahaha)I've never been to a hairdresser/salon, what do I expect???
if you have an appointment and arrive early, you will find one or more books of hairstyles to look through. if in one of those books you find something you like, ask the hairdresser if that would be a suitable style for you and your hair.

in addition, there are also magazines at the bookstore and grocery store that are full of hairstyles.

if all else fails, you can tell the hairdresser what you like and what you don't like, as well as how long you want to keep your hair or how short you want to go
if you have a specific hairstyle you want, try and find a picture of it on the internet, so they can have a model picture to look at. if not, then i guarentee they will have books or mags to look at while your waiting.

    ~a few tips~

    1. if they hold you in one position and they tell you not to move, DONT MOVE! if you do, then your hair could end up slanted or funny looking.

    2. if the hairdress is doing something that is hurting, tell them so they can stop, or just wait it out, whatever:)

3.expect them to try and make small talk with you, hairdressers usually like to talk to their clients, and dont be afraid to ask questions. like, ';what can i do to make my hair shiny?'; etc. they LOVE to answer questions like that.

    hope this helped girly:)

    Lindzz
They will have a bunch of magazines, if you don't already know what you want, look through them and decide whats best! if you already have something in mind, describe it to your hairdresser VIVIDLY!!!! if you don't he mite get it rong and you may end up with a mohawk instead of what you wanted!
dont be so nervous, because there are dozens of new clients everyday in a salon. they will treat you just like any customer. You can look through hairstyle books, or simply explain what you want. if you are unsure, you can talk to your stylist and ask for their advice on what you should do. they do have the experience, and want to do their best work.
Usually small hair salons know most of their customers.

They always have books of hairstyles to look at, magazines, etc.

If you want a specific look, try finding a picture of the style online, printing it out, and bringing it with you to show the hair stylist.

    :)
If you go to a chain hair cutting place to get hair cut they may treat you like everyone else, but if you are going a regular hair salon expect to be treated nice and they will let you look at some styling books and consult you on the style you like. Good luck!
You'll go in, sign in your name, sit down and flip through some magazine or just wait. Once they call your name they may give you a shampoo and ask what you want. Just let them know what kind of a haircut you'd like - and there you go!
it is very nice you just tell them what you want done to your hair and they will do it and they will treat like a new person to there place but if you keep coming they will treat you like every one else
theyll notice your new, but will treat you like everyone else. they have books but you should come prepared knowing what you want and be as specific as possible. have fun ! :)
they have magazines to look through, u just tell them what u want and they give it to you
    a haircut.
uh i dont know they probably just ask you how you want your hair cut?
you will just be another customer to them and some do have books to look at

    Hairdresser acting VERY strange?

My hairdresser is a very sexy man, and i know he is NOT gay. when i am in he will smile at me all tjhe time, brush past and make eye contact in the mirror. he will ask me what my plans are for that evening or weekend. on new year he askd me what i was doing and said he would be home all alone.he also keeps saying i need a man to cuddle up too. what is he playing at?Hairdresser acting VERY strange?
He is playing up for a tip.. Just like strippers, bartenders, waiters, taxi drivers...Hairdresser acting VERY strange?
You have to find out if he's acting like that just with you- which would mean he likes you- or he usually flirts with costumers- wich would mean he wants a tip...
He's gay. Also stay away from Yahoo Spam since he's into that. You know, if the shoe fits...
I have no clue, maybe you should start doing your hair yourself.
he's tryin to flirt but he's commin on a bit strong. if you like him go ahead but if you dont then id let him down gently cuz he obviously likes u alot
Do you really have to ask? The 'do' he wants to do is not your hair.
This is very normal. It's part of the business. That way, he would make you want to come back again.

    I'd say its working :)
    FLIRT WITH HIM!!!!!!!111
Flirt back with him! Either he wants an extra tip, or...he likes you ;]
obviously he likes you ! if you like him then you know what to do !
he need a man cuddle up to?

Men's Haircut ~ why do hairdresser's treat us this way?

So I get a hair cut... (about my 200th time) ... and I dont like it and decide to shop elsewhere.

Next time I go to this shop... the hairdresser (the owner) is pleasant and holds a conversation that doesn't make you fall asleep ... and does a repectable job on my curly locks...

So I book in for the next one .... the owner's daughter is there.. she says ';mum's away so I'll do your hair';... She does a reasonable job ... not as good as her mum, but it's still pretty good and I have no reason to complain.

Now the next three consequetive haircuts I have from the daughter.. mum's always with someone else etc... but the style of cut is a little worse than the last.. .like a photocopy of a photocopy... now I have had the worst haircut I can remember since the last time I changed hairdressers.....

So I need a good hairdresser in Sydney for men. Any suggestions.Men's Haircut ~ why do hairdresser's treat us this way?
First, if they're reputable let them know you don't like the haircut within 24 hours of getting it, and make them fix it.

Second, make an appointment with the mother. You might have to do it weeks in advance, LOL, but a good cut is worth it right? Also, remember to tip well. They'll remember you and WANT to do a great job to get that money!

Hope that helps! =)Men's Haircut ~ why do hairdresser's treat us this way?
Try asking this question in the Australia Travel category. Someone might be able to give you suggestions. As for me, I have very fine, baby like hair. I got tired of choosing a certain hairstyle and usually ending up disappointed. So I took it all off. I now maintain semi-bald look. I use less shampoo, less time drying hair and could go to any cheap barber for a haircut. Though it could get very cold in the evening.
tell the girl tat u want it from her mom, simple as tat
Next time you get a haircut you love, ask them to describe what they did (and take notes, if you have trouble remembering). Then, if you get a different hairdresser, tell them *explicity* what you want, and don't let them suggest anything otherwise.

My boyfriend has ridiculously thick, coarse, curly red hair. He has to be very insistent with the tried and true, hairdressers try to do different things all the time.

Unfortunately I'm in the States but that's how you get a good haircut every time.

Do you tip your hairdresser after she's done cutting your hair?

I myself have never done this. Yesterday I went to have my hair cut, and noticed customers leaving tips. So I did so too (for the very first time).Do you tip your hairdresser after she's done cutting your hair?
Yes I do because that shows your appreciation.

But u know what for me my biggest appreciation, when doin hair is the please and thanks yous I get when asked to do hair and afterwards. And also for me I like to do hair for free. (Only for those who can't pay or if God leads me to do it for free) Because first off u never know what kinda day some one is havin, or wat they are goin through or even how they feel about thereselves. Nothin helps more then to get yo hair done nicely and atleast have somethin to smile about. My biggest appreciation is the SMILEZ that I see afterwards. But for others it may be gettin money. So yeah I do cause heck even the person who does your hair could be goin thru somethings and need a little help. U never know the next time u'll see someone or the next time u need some help (with money) yourself. :)

~*Twonisha*~Do you tip your hairdresser after she's done cutting your hair?
No, she owns the shop, so that's not necessary.
I usually tip by barber, probably 2 dollars for an eleven dollar cut. I factor in my own satisfaction and how long I had to wait, debates over sports and politics should not be one of my considerations.
only if she does a good job, sumtimes I over tip. but it encourages her to do better next time ;-)
When Im satisfied with what my stylist does, I usually leave a $5 dollar tip.

If she burned my scalp, she only gets 2.
If they do what I ask them to I will. If they mess it up then no. It's like a waiter/waitress. If you're a good one, I tip you, if you're not, I don't.
I tip my hairdresser if she does a good job!!
Yes, I normally give her an extra $5.00.
yeppers, and the chick that waxes me......
yes, if it is horrible then just a penny. If it is good then at least $5
Absolutely! I tip her at least 15%.
    yes I do
Yep always. In Canada and the US especially it's always expected if a good job is done. She does a wonderful job plus she's my God Daughter so I'm all for it. She's just buying into the salon and needs every cent she can get.

    What do you mean?
Huh? Do not understand your question. What size are ';what';???

Um just curious : can i ask my hairdresser to just cut off all my split ends?

Yes ma'am, you definitely can(:Um just curious : can i ask my hairdresser to just cut off all my split ends?
    well you can ask

but there's no guarantee she wont just incompetently start hacking randomly away at whole milimeters at a time, of perfectly good hair that never hurt anyone!

I recommend, hold a gun on her as she cuts...

that way, you can force her to calm down.Um just curious : can i ask my hairdresser to just cut off all my split ends?
    yeah of course :)

if you use a straightner I would tell them because that means you could have more split ends than just the bottom.
Sure you can but they'll probably just trim it
yes, it's a trim. but there will probably still be a few here and there cuz it's impossible to get every single one.
well if you dont your hair just sliced off, make it clear you want like 1/4 inch cut off, and only split ends
sure you can.. it's part of their job..
Deinately! I do that all the time!

ok, so im probably getting my hair cut and dyed. I want it blonde with brown/black under it. But the problem is, i don't know what cut to get. I was looking at scene hair but it all seemed too big on top..and considering im only 13 it would look weird to be that big XD I need some pictures of smaller scene like hair please...i couldnt find anything on google.I need some pics to show my hairdresser...?
    http://mirabeerwar.blogspot.com/2008/04/…

This has some hairstyles...I need some pics to show my hairdresser...?
I would do something like this:

sorry i don't know how to do a link but something like hayley williams from paramore's hair, its a little bit scene but not overly or maybe like emily browning (5th pic on google images)

sorry that's all i could think of!

    :D
It's not going to turn out that big.. it only looks big because its teased.

Do you ever regret giving your hairdresser a tip??

Yes only on a couple of occasions when the hairdresser was a first timer cutting my hair and scalped me.Do you ever regret giving your hairdresser a tip??
Yes, I did once, but only once.

I was getting a haircut at a nicer ';Mall'; salon. It wasn't a great clips, but it wasn't Mario Tricoci or Avalon Day Spa.

So this girl is cutting my hair, she's probably 20, maybe. And a boy comes in to tell her something quick.

She got so excited, she stopped cutting my hair and left me sitting there for like 2 mins!!! While they were exchanging phone numbers or some (explitive) like that.

I was dumbfounded. I couldn't even speak, I was so awestruck by the stupidity of this person.

The manager came over and finished my haircut, but she was distraught and upset.

The actual haircut came out OK. But I still tipped. Granted it was only $3. I shouldn't have even paid for it. I should have made a scene.

But I realized that the girl didn't deserve another modicum of thought, and it was easier to walk out and never look back.

    :)

Now I only go to high end salons. As a early 30's professional guy, it's nice to get quality service, and I'm willing to pay for it.Do you ever regret giving your hairdresser a tip??
    YES!!!

I keep saying that I'll only give a partial tip the first day. Then, the next day when I try to see what it REALLY looks like, I'll decide if I should go back and give them the rest. LOL (I never do hold any back, though...I just tip generously and usually I'm happy with it)

I had a few cuts a few years ago that got me thinking that...then for the past few years, I've had a really good stylist...loved every one of my cuts.

Unfortunately, I just had a cut on Friday that made me think of that again (I moved). It's really not a good cut...I honestly have to go to someone else to have it fixed...
i have never in my life given my hairdresser a tip. half the time i think i pay too much for haircuts anyway.

i also dont inend to ever give my hairdresser a tip.

no one tips in australia anyway :)
I don't tip her. I am currently paying about 200.00 about every two to three months.
Once when I got a really bad haircut, twice actually. Once I get a bad haircut I never go back again.
Since you give the tip AFTER services are rendered, and you've had a chance to look at your hair before you leave ... no.
Yup! I have a tendency to over-tip and then when i get home realize I the girl did a crap job and didn't deserve anything more than 5 bucks!!!
why would you? jeez...thats like sayin...ever regret givin the waitress a tip...after you've been home 2 days...and ate 3 times over....
I don't understand; you pay them and still tip them

what's the purpose of the tip?
i only tip if my hair looks great when i leave the shop.
    All of the time.
Whats so bad about giving them a tip? i dont understand this.
    OH yea
    Hell yeah!
My husband my hairdresser, I give him a kiss
    no y
Not really - he's my borther!

Question about hair dyeing. Experienced or Hairdresser help please.?

Hi, i got my hair bleached and dyed blonde nearly 2 months ago.. my hair naturally is a medium golden brown..

ive used semi permanent on top of the bleached hair for the last month and a half (school doesnt allowed blonde hair if you have dark hair)

    and i was wondering...

when the semi permanent fades out will it go back to the bleached blonde? what will happen ?

thanks so much!Question about hair dyeing. Experienced or Hairdresser help please.?
no - it won't fade out completely. Your best bet will be to use a permanent hair color that closest resembles your natural hair color and just let it grow out.Question about hair dyeing. Experienced or Hairdresser help please.?
it all depends really on your hair type. certain peoples hair take a long time to fade and when it does fade sine you did bleach your hair it will be lighter.

What do I say to the hairdresser?

jw what I would say to the hair dresser to get hair just like hers

    http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk32/鈥?/a>

thanks :)What do I say to the hairdresser?
I agree with the other answers, best thing you can do is take the picture in with you. If for some reason you can't, that hairstyle is described as a ';stacked layered bob'; and it looks like it was done with a razor. What do I say to the hairdresser?
You could draw it, or trace it? Or describe it as flat layered feathered and chopped, with thin bangs and givfe her length. Or just show the pic to her, it's not that big a deal right?
    like a choppy bob.

but its really not hard to print out a picture.

    does it really matter ?
you think its weird to print out the picture and give it to the hair dresser but not weird to post it on yahoo answers so the whole world can see? you are weird
just print out that pic and bring it to her
Print the picture, no one needs to know who she is.
bring her the picture and say that you want it just like hers
print it out then destroy it once you use it

This is for any city...Find out if they have trainee night at some expensive places...sometimes these joints let their students cut hair for free... they need real clients and they are probably as good as the person who charges tons of money. So don't just call the places that charge $200.... call the really expensive ones... they might even be more likely to have freebies. Can anyone recommend a hip, talented hairdresser who cuts great hair w/o costing $$ here in San Francisco?

    print the picture out

and then tell her what you just told me
    tell her ';style my hair this way';
    bring the picture in
show her the picture (right click press select all then right click copy go to microsoft get an empty page right click paste and print)

Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser in edinburgh?

It depends on which part of Edinburgh you prefer, there are plenty of really good hairdressers in Edinburgh but the best could be said to be Charlie Miller. He has won nearly every hairdressing award known to man.

i dont like it, sometimes im not in the greatest mood and they are just yacking away asking all sorts of questions, i am polite but i just dont answer in a way that would lead to to think i want to make conversation with themWhen you go to the hairdresser, do you like it when they make small talk..?
LOL you think they're talking to you but they're actually trying to act nice to get more tip :) seriously though the hairdresser asks me all types of questions but yet i see her head going back and forth from the entrance door to my head.. guess its all about the cash ahaha
I hate it. It makes me really uncomfortable.

    Cause they ask all the penetrating questions and I'm just like, ';wtf?! whats it to ya!?';

    it's nice

but i don';t like it when they do it when there is a lot of noise

Hairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?

What strength would you use for a darn brown or red color?

    10vol

    20vol etc?

thank youHairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?
If you are trying to go darker (or staying the same level) use 10 volume. It is deposit only and DOES NOT lift. 20 volume will lift 1 level and is also used when covering gray. 30 volume will get you 2 levels lighter and 40 volume is 3-4 levels lighter. The stronger the developer, the .more damage so use the lowest volume that you can.

Oh, and bleach doesn't only lift 6 levels....it will keep on working. It doesn't stop like color does. It stops if it dries out, but if it is kept moist it will keep on lightening.Hairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?
10 volume deposits (goes darker) and lifts 1 level. 20 volume lifts 2 levels, 30 volume lifts 3 levels, and 40 volume lifts 4 levels. There is 1/2 a level increase with bleach because bleach lifts 6 levels instead of 4 like dye does. So it depends on the color that you have now, but there it is!
If your hair is the same base or lighter (3 or higher) then use 10 vol, there is no reason to use a higher strength peroxide and cause unnecessary damage to your hair. If your base colour is a 1 or 2, use 20 vol so you get that lift.
It depends on the amount of lift required. If it is only a couple of shades lighter, going darker or covering more than 25% gray use 10 vol.
    20 vol for colouring hair.

i would let her try to fix it as long as there is no fee but if she doesnt get it the way it should be you should try some one elseHairdresser turned my hair skunky... she's offering to put a toner on it, but should I try someone else?
i think you should go bak to her and she if she can try again if not go somewhere else every one desvers a second try even if they did mess up.
i would go back to her..she did it and needs to fix it (free of charge)..only she knows what she has already used..can you possibly get a diff. stylist at the same salon?..if you go somewhere else you will have to pay them to fix it..and depending on how they do that you could run into a lot of $$..I always charge more for color correction..
try somebody else in case she trys 2 make it look even worse she obviously dnt no wot shes doin!!

    Good Luck!
She should fix your color for free. Or the salon may offer a refund. Ask to speak with the manager. Is their a colorist in the same salon?

If you don't trust her to re-color, you should go to a correction specialist to get the color you want, and keep your hair as healthy as possible in the process.

Another option is to have you hair colored it's natural color, and wait awhile until you can find someone that can design the color you want.

Look around you, if you see someone with great hair, ask them where they get their hair done/name of stylist. A consultation is usually free, and bring pictures if you can. What you call copper may be what the stylist calls red.

    Good luck!

good question if you can spend some on inc it would be the best because sometimes it is hard to explain to a stylest. This will also lead not hopefully no mistakes because u have a picture and they know excaclly what u want.
i like the hair, well go to the library or somewhere else to print it, otherwise explain it to them the best you can, like how many layers, how hi, what colors, also they have books of hair styles there try to find the closest one the explain the rest that might help to
    1. try and describe it in the best possible way

    2. wait a few days and go too the library and print the pic they only charge like 20p
hurry go to someone house and print that cos i dont think they are going to get it like that
Get it thinned and have long layers and shorter layers towards the top
if you can describe it to her, then just do it, most good hairdressers will ask you how do you want it cut--if they don't find another one--they are there to serve you, not let them tell you what you want--you could ask her opinion of the cut and if it is good for your face shape--but the final decision is yours
shes going to say that that isnt a haircut but styled. the hair is styled with products to go up like that. you cannot cut your hair like the picture, but get it styled with gels and stuff. :]
theres no way your gonna be able to describe that to her

you have to print it or email it or something

http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1zn5vux%26amp;s=4How would i explain this haircut to the hairdresser?
your hair needs to be fairly long to get the exact look, but if your hair is shorter it'll still be the same just won't come down as long at the bottom.

fringes are difficult things and need to be trained.

id ask for a side fringe, but a long one. if it sticks out to the side its okay. because,

that night when you get home get a bobby pin and pin your new fringe to the side how you want it. Sleep with it in like that and eventually your hair will stay like that. for the first few days hairspary your gringe a tiny bit ontop so it doesnt go spastic.

secondly ask for short layers at the top and ask for the back of your hair to go into a V shape. then once you get home, straighten out your layers and all your hair. then get the top layer and pin it to the other side of your head so its not in your way, tease the layer below it to make it a put puffy. take out the pin and then spread it out evenly ontop cowing the teased bit. that way it gives it volume towards the top. also pushing up your hair from the bottom on the top layer upwards helps it stick up. do it to both sides.

you must straighten your hair to get this look, unless your hair is already straight naturally.

i hope this helped, me and my friends have all had this style of hair, its called the long girls mullet :)

Have fun.How would i explain this haircut to the hairdresser?
    that would be:

    long layers and side bangs

take those pics with you to show him/her

and i highly recommend rave hairspary (the plastic bottle, not the metal one, better for the environment!) it works really well for teasing (which well help with the volume!)

    good luck!
you want side swept or angled bangs, and lots of real short, choppy layers.

but it will take a lot of work to make your hair look like that.
Print the picture and show it to the hair dresser. She won't mind.

But you shouldn't copy someones hair style exactly though, try putting your own spin on it.

    Changing hairdresser? Any loyalty?

I have been going to this same hair dresser for over 6 months. He does a good job but I feel like something different. I am thinking about booking another hair dresser in the same saloon or do I need to stay loyal? What is the etiquette?Changing hairdresser? Any loyalty?
if you want to change mechanic or supermarket.. then do it.. That is why we live in a free country... things like this are not a problem... tChanging hairdresser? Any loyalty?
I just went through this at the salon I go to and this is what they told me, because I was feeling disloyal wanting to change from the guy I have been going to for 5 years. They said it doesn't matter and he would not be offended as long as I stayed at the same salon. If I went to a different saloon then they would be pissed.
It depends on what the dynamics are between stylists in your salon.

I think it would be a sticky situation even though you have the right to change stylists if you want.
It is your money and your hair-enough said...
