Hairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?

What strength would you use for a darn brown or red color?

10vol

20vol etc?

thank youHairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?
If you are trying to go darker (or staying the same level) use 10 volume. It is deposit only and DOES NOT lift. 20 volume will lift 1 level and is also used when covering gray. 30 volume will get you 2 levels lighter and 40 volume is 3-4 levels lighter. The stronger the developer, the .more damage so use the lowest volume that you can.

Oh, and bleach doesn't only lift 6 levels....it will keep on working. It doesn't stop like color does. It stops if it dries out, but if it is kept moist it will keep on lightening.Hairdresser?? when using salon hair dye what strength Developer do you use?
10 volume deposits (goes darker) and lifts 1 level. 20 volume lifts 2 levels, 30 volume lifts 3 levels, and 40 volume lifts 4 levels. There is 1/2 a level increase with bleach because bleach lifts 6 levels instead of 4 like dye does. So it depends on the color that you have now, but there it is!
If your hair is the same base or lighter (3 or higher) then use 10 vol, there is no reason to use a higher strength peroxide and cause unnecessary damage to your hair. If your base colour is a 1 or 2, use 20 vol so you get that lift.
It depends on the amount of lift required. If it is only a couple of shades lighter, going darker or covering more than 25% gray use 10 vol.
20 vol for colouring hair.
